The Daley West property is located 3 kilometres southeast of New Hazelton, on the east side of Mission Creek.

The showings are within the fine-grained to porphyritic quartz monzonite phase of the Rocher Deboule stock which is part of the Late Cretaceous Bulkley Plutonic Suite. Biotite, from the stock, has been dated at 72 million years by potassium/argon dating (Geological Survey of Canada Open File 2322).

Two adits have been driven on a quartz vein that strikes 020 degrees, dipping 65 degrees northwest. The vein is exposed in several trenches over a vertical distance of more than 100 metres and averages 15 centimetres in thickness, reaching close to 1 metre in places. The vein carries pyrite, arsenopyrite, pyrrhotite and chalcopyrite with minor scheelite, sphalerite, galena and calcite.

A 38-centimetre-wide channel sample, taken from the face of the main adit, assayed 1.4 grams per tonne gold, 47.0 grams per tonne silver and 1.92 per cent copper (Geological Survey of Canada Memoir 223).

Recently, chalcopyrite and molybdenite have been found in porphyritic quartz monzonite in widely scattered narrow quartz veins north, east and west of the old workings.

In 2011 it was reported that chalcopyrite and molybdenite have been found in porphyritic quartz monzonite in widely scattered narrow quartz veins north, east and west of the old workings. A sample above the main adit assayed 6.32 grams gold, 215 parts per million silver, 7 per cent copper, and is anomalous in cobalt, bismuth, arsenic (Assessment Report 33297). The area east of the Daley West showing, 2 stream sediments, a soil and a rock sample were taken. Both stream sediments were anomalous for copper.

WORK HISTORY

The last reported development work was by the Spokane Rocher Deboule Mining and Copper Company, Limited, in 1916. The company charter was surrendered in 1922. The showings have been developed by 2 adits and some open cuts. The main adit, at elevation 663 metre, was driven 72 metres southerly along the vein. The lower adit, 38 metres vertically below the main adit, was driven 47 metres along two small stringers which are 0.60 to 1 metre apart; each of the stringers carries an inch or two of chalcopyrite. The Ingenica group, located east of the Daley West claim, was staked in 1912 by Leverett & associates from R.T. McDonnell, of Hazelton. No development work has been reported on this group.

It was reported in 1980 by Anthony L'Orsa who prospected his Judi claims that the portals and adits on the Daley West were now caved but several open cuts were still in good condition (Assessment Report 8937). The concrete foundations constructed for the compressor and engine could still be seen. The claims are underlain by a quartz monzonite phase of the Rocher Deboule stock. L'Orsa collected two grab samples.

During 2001 through 2007, Rocher Deboule Minerals Corporation completed programs of rock and soil sampling, prospecting, geological mapping and an airborne (electromagnetic, magnetic and radiometric) geophysical survey on the area as the Rocher Deboule property.

In 2011, American Manganese held the Rocher Deboule property which covered three small, past-producing mines and five significant prospects including: Highland Boy (093M 070), Rocher Deboule (093M 071), Victoria (093M 072), Great Ohio (093M069), Cap (093M073), Golden Wonder (093M074), Three Hills (093M075) and Daley West (093M053). American Manganese Inc carried out a program that entailed 22 kilometres of ground magnetometer survey, 841 soil samples, 455 rock samples and 68 silt samples. The most significant soil sample returned 8650 parts per billion gold, 72.4 parts per million silver, 0.58 per cent copper, 1.31 per cent arsenic and 20.09 per cent iron (Stockwatch, November 20, 2012; Assessment Report 33297). A soil and stream sediment survey was conducted across the north facing slope of the Rocher Deboule stock from Daley West to West’s Knoll (Figure 23) at the 550-meter contour, to check for mineralization associated with the quartz monzonite intrusion. It collected 120 soil samples at 50-meter stations and 11 stream sediment samples over a traverse length of 5.5 kilometres. The results were not encouraging. A number of rock samples were taken in the vicinity. A chip sample taken from above the main adit is reported to have assayed 6.32 grams per tonne gold, 215 grams per tonne silver and 7 per cent copper (Reeder, J.J. (2019-05-21): Technical Report on the Golden Wonder Property).

In 2017, Primary Cobalt Corp. completed a program of prospecting and rock and stream sediment sampling on the area as the RD Cobalt property.

In 2018, Primary Energy Metals Inc. completed a program of geological mapping and geochemical (rock, soil and stream sediment) sampling on the area as the Golden Wonder property.

In 2019, Blue Lagoon Resources Inc. completed a program of geochemical (soil and rock) sampling and a ground magnetic survey on the area as the Golden Wonder property.

Refer to Rocker DeBoule (093M 071) Victoria (093M 072) for related details of work done in that area, some of which pertains to the Daley West.
